  1. Open the bonnet.<\/strong> Ensure the chimney has been swept and the sauna stove's flues cleaned on time. You can read more about sauna maintenance here<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Empty the ash pan.<\/strong> Too much ash can block airflow through the grate and cause the grate to overheat and break.<\/li>\n
  3. Put the logs on the sauna stove.<\/strong> Use dry, small pieces of wood and stack them loosely. Fill the nest to no more than half full.<\/li>\n
  4. Check that there is sufficient traction.<\/strong> During ignition, the pull-regulating ash damper should be wide open.<\/li>\n
  5. Light the fire.<\/strong> Use birch bark, pine cones or fire starters as kindling. It's best to ignite dry, finely chopped wood from the top, ensuring clean and eco-friendly burning from the start. Placing kindling underneath the logs isn't a bad idea either, especially if the logs aren't completely dry.<\/li>\n
  6. Add trees.<\/strong> You can use thicker logs than for kindling, and fill the firebox up to a maximum of 2\/3 of its height. Ensure adequate draught. Do not let the fire die down too much, even during sauna use.<\/li>\n
