Christmas is coming, and with it, inevitably, the sauna's Christmas clean. Here are simple instructions for giving your sauna a Christmas clean and creating a festive atmosphere, which takes about 1-2 hours depending on the size of the sauna.
1: Preparations
- Cleaning equipment & products: You will need a soft scrubbing brush, a bucket for the cleaning solution and a window squeegee or scraper. Use a mildly alkaline cleaning product (pH 7.5-9). Avoid abrasive ingredients. An eco-friendly, unscented cleaning product is recommended, especially for people with allergies.
2: Washing
- Start with a cold sauna: Pick up any loose debris and vacuum the dust.
- Wet the benches: Use warm water so that the grain of the wood opens up.
- Apply the cleaning product: Brush the cleaning product all over the benches. Leave it to work for a moment and brush again.
- Rinse the benches: Rinse off the cleaning product thoroughly.
- Cold rinse: Finally, rinse the benches with cold water so that the grain closes.
- Drying: Dry the benches with a window squeegee or scraper.
- Wash the walls as needed: Rinsing is usually enough for the walls. Washing surfaces from the bottom up avoids streaks.
- Sauna heater: If necessary, the sauna heater can be washed with a sponge and detergent. It's also a good idea to check the condition of the stones.
- Wash the floor and floor drain: Finish the cleaning by washing the floor.
3: Christmas atmosphere
- Sauna scents: Add a Christmassy atmosphere with sauna scents.
- Décor: Decorate the sauna with sauna cushions and bench covers.
- Lanterns and candles: Remember safety. Never leave candles unattended and watch out for lanterns getting hot.
With these tips, your sauna will be clean for Christmas, giving you a peaceful, pleasant space in which to enjoy a festive sauna. Have a lovely Christmas!
