Follow the cottage project of Hannu-Pekka Björkman and Nina Honkanen
Ehta will deliver a 30 square metre log cabin to Hannu-Pekka Björkman's and Nina Honkanen's holiday destination.
Ehta's CEO's phone rang on a September Friday evening. Hannu-Pekka was calling from the veranda of a lakeside sauna. A year-round second home had been found five years earlier for a family of artist couples on the shore of a lake located on the border of Pihtipudas. There were plans to build a guest cabin within the yard. Ehta's products and values had resonated. It was agreed that discussions should continue.
We've agreed on a collaboration where Ehta will supply Hannu-Pekka and Nina with a 30-square-metre log building for their property, which they call ”Korve,” to replace the old, dilapidated storehouse. Before that, the old building will be demolished, its materials recycled, the land where the cabin will be placed cleared and levelled, and the necessary landscaping and groundwork will be carried out. We'll also visit Perho to follow the construction of the Ehta cabin. Welcome to follow the project!
Nina's project diary
Nina Honkanen is a journalist, author, and screenwriter. You can also follow the project on Nina's Instagram account.

This was my first time at the Spring Fair (formerly the Garden Fair?), as before today my fair visits have been related to Vateva fairs in the 80s-90s and since 2002 I've visited the Helsinki Book Fair), but as spring progressed it was really nice to potter around here. We also got some good tips for the planned guest cabin/workroom in the wilderness and a recipe for a lovely honey drink.

and the smallness of the world was proven once again when we met a true Reisjärvi native (one of the neighbouring villages of Korpi), Torsti, we immediately found many mutual acquaintances and hobbies.
Out here in the sticks, you don't hear many other sounds besides the birds and your own footsteps.
...the cleaning became urgent on Thursday. so that Friday wouldn't become too loooong...
Property details
The cottage's floor plan was shaped by Hannu-Pekka's and Nina's needs. The two spacious bedrooms are comfortable for accommodating adult children, relatives, and friends with their families. The hallway provides access to both bedrooms as well as the WC facilities serving them, which include a composting toilet.
At the end of the building is a compact workspace with a view of the lake. In addition to workshop activities, it's a good place for writing and other artistic work.
