Kaisu and Ari Erkkilä have had a summer place in Liimattala, Äänekoski, for 5 years. Ehta delivered a garden sauna, ready for its first löyly, to the Erkkiläs' lakeshore.
The idea of getting a garden sauna took shape a couple of years ago, as Kaisu looked out from the lake at the cottage shore bathed in the evening sun.
– I looked and thought that there ought to be a sauna in that very spot.
They chose the Ehtasauna Kuutio S model, which is not currently in Ehta's range.
Finding the right sauna took some work
Once they had decided to get a sauna, the Erkkiläs looked at the options online. There was plenty on offer, but they couldn't seem to find the right model.
The choice was incredibly difficult. In most ready-made saunas, the steam room is small and the changing room is large. We wanted a large steam room, and Ehta had one.
The second challenge related to the sauna's material. Many saunas might have been otherwise suitable, but the construction too flimsy. Ari wanted the sauna walls to be of sturdy logs, like those in Ehta.
– So that you don't have to be straightening panels and nailing them back in place after the first winter.

The schedule and price held
The Erkkiläs visited Ehta's factory in Perho and were convinced by the quality of the work. The service was flexible and personal.
– We even got to see a sauna at the managing director's home, as the model in his garden was closest to what we wanted.
Once the deal was done, the Erkkiläs applied for a building permit for the sauna.
– Applying for the building permit online was easy. We ordered the foundations from a local groundworks contractor.
All in all, the Erkkiläs were happy with their dealings with Ehta. Everything went as agreed. The schedules and prices held. Kaisu was a little nervous about the delivery of the sauna.
– I had to be at the cottage on my own when the sauna arrived. But the driver lifted the sauna off the lorry easily with the truck-mounted crane. All I had to do was stay out of the way.
Ari used the support timbers from the sauna's transport to build a bench for the changing room. One suggestion for improvement has also come to mind.
– The vent could have a mesh fitted at the factory. A little bird has already popped into our sauna to see what kind of nest box this is.

The promise of unbeatable löyly was kept
After a few months of sauna bathing, the Erkkiläs can't find anything to fault in their garden sauna. The promise of long-lasting löyly has been kept. Kaisu loves how light the sauna is.
– From the big window it's lovely to watch the white swans feeding as they come to the shore.
Kaisu and Ari have 9 grandchildren, who have also taken the sauna to their hearts. During the summer holidays, the children spent 11-16 hours a day in the lake. From the sauna you can easily see down to the shore, and from the shore up to the sauna, what the children are up to. Kaisu remembers what a 3-year-old grandchild said on a sunny summer's day.
– It's a good thing this sauna is ready, isn't it.
