Lamellihirttä käytetään hirsirakenteissamme. Lue, miksi olemme päätyneet tähän ratkaisuun.
Sustainable
Laminated timber is warp-resistant and develops fewer and smaller cracks than solid timber (planed timber).
High-quality
The laminated timber we use is made by gluing two planks, or lamellas, together so that the durable heartwood side of the timber is on the outer surface of the log. The surface is smooth with minimal cracking.
Breathable
Laminated log is breathable and healthy. The manufacturing process uses ecological, solvent-free glue that breathes like solid wood.
Ecological
The energy efficiency of glulam timber is better than solid timber as it has fewer and smaller cracks than solid timber. Therefore, the insulating property of glulam timber is better.
Spectacular
The laminated log we use is 190 mm high. This is significantly more substantial than the thinner, lower-profile planed log used by many manufacturers. The difference in appearance is considerable.

Laminated timber or planed timber?
| Laminated log | Log beam | |
| Durability | Excellent, doesn't bend. | Okay, twisting is possible |
| Breathability | Excellent | Excellent |
| Environmental friendliness | Excellent, the glue is usable and solvent-free | Excellent |
| Isolation | Good | Satisfactory, cracks weaken the insulation somewhat |
| Appearance | Tidy and modern, not much cracking | Rustic, more cracks |
| Sinking | 10 mm/m | 30 mm/m |
Is the glue in laminated timber toxic?
No. The Purbond glue we use in our logs is free of formaldehyde and other toxic ingredients. Most log cabin manufacturers use the same glue.
Purbond adhesive is internationally certified. The use of Purbond adhesives in timber products is approved under DIN 1052 and Eurocode 5 standards.
Does the glue in laminated timber affect breathability?
It doesn't harm or obstruct in any way. The Purbond adhesive we use preserves the natural breathability of the log. The adhesive is not applied to the surface as a film, but as a sparse layer, leaving air passages within the adhesive material as well.
It is important not to obstruct the breathability of the inside and outside surfaces of the log with incorrect surface treatment agents, such as film-forming varnishes and paints.
