Ready-made cabins, saunas and aittas have grown enormously in popularity in recent years. Once the foundations for a garden sauna or cabin are in place, delivery is possible all year round. High demand has at times lengthened delivery times, and winter delivery is now an increasingly popular option.
Did you even know that winter delivery is possible? Many of us only really catch cabin fever with the first rays of the spring sun and don't think about the benefits of winter delivery. Winter delivery is often even more sensible solution than summer delivery.
Planning ahead pays off, as winter delivery has many benefits, which I will explain in more detail shortly.
The only condition for winter delivery is that the foundations should be completed before the hard frosts, i.e. before the ground freezes.
Five reasons why winter delivery of a sauna or cabin makes sense

1. Price:
In autumn there are often attractive winter campaigns, as most people still only catch cabin fever around spring, whereas manufacturers need to keep production running evenly all year round.
At the moment, it looks like timber price is going to rise next year, which will inevitably be reflected in the prices of prefabricated buildings too. A decision made this autumn could therefore bring bigger savings than you might think!
2. Securing a delivery slot:
Delivery times are more readily available for winter. Last spring's cottage boom began exceptionally early and Ehta was summer sold out as early as March. Fortunately we will have more capacity for next summer, but the inevitable fact is that the biggest cabin and sauna boom is always in spring.
3. An early cabin spring:
Spring is one of the best times to enjoy a cabin. If you plan a little ahead and let the dream of a cabin spring take hold in autumn, you can head to the cabin in spring as soon as you like and focus on things like landscaping your garden in summer.
(Of course, you can enjoy the cabin in winter too. 😉 What could be better than your own winter-ready cabin, where you can enjoy the glow of the fireplace and the warmth of the sauna all year round?)
4. Reliable transport (does not apply to everyone):
If the road to the cabin or yard is in poor condition or clay-based, delivery can be disrupted, especially in spring and autumn, by rain, which make it difficult for the heavy transport vehicle to get there and position itself for lifting. In winter (especially late winter) the ground is sure to be frozen, so this problem does not arise.
5. Dry air (applies to kit deliveries):
For those who want a kit delivery, the freezing winter months and spring are the best building season in the sense that when the building is assembled on site, the air should be as dry as possible so that the building materials do not absorb moisture.
In freezing weather, the air is always fairly consistently dry. In early spring, for example, humidity is at its lowest and the ground is still frozen.
How to get your cabin foundations ready before the ground freezes
A prefabricated cabin or sauna can only be delivered once the foundations have been completed.

The foundations must be built precisely to measurements, as a prefabricated building obviously cannot be lowered onto foundations that are not perfectly level, with the piers in exactly the right places.
Snow on the foundations is not a problem, as a pier foundation is almost always chosen for a prefabricated building. The piers are dug out before delivery, and the transport crew make sure everything is in order before the building is lowered into place.
