Åke and Kaisa Nyblom are laughing with happy expressions in front of their new sauna cabin. However, the road to becoming the happy owner of an Ehta ready-made cabin was not a foregone conclusion, as Åke exclaims good-naturedly:
“We got good service, even though the first answer was no!”
In this article:
How it all began
The sauna cabin is special to the Nyblom couple, as it has carried on the legacy of an old outbuilding that had suffered water damage and had to be demolished.
So it all began when the Nybloms were actively looking for something to replace their old and much-loved outbuilding. Among the options they found Ehta, and the Nybloms fell for the range of ready-made cabins. Although Ehta customises its ready-made cabins to customers' wishes, the Nybloms' original plan differed too much from Ehta's own range.
Even so, the Nybloms didn't want to give up straight away:
“We changed the drawings to some extent, but it always felt natural. Even at short notice we could arrange a meeting, for example, or go through things by email. The customer service was good and they responded quickly. At some point it felt quite natural to end up with this solution.”
But there were other reasons for the choice as well:
“For Ehta, many things fell into place.”,
Kaisa says emphatically.
“Value for money – and the fact that it's from Ostrobothnia and Finnish were the trump cards.”
Åke highlights the scope of Ehta's complete package:
“Not everyone can deliver on this scale. Here we have toilets and showers – not everyone can do that at the moment. – On top of that there's underfloor heating, which is absolutely brilliant, especially in winter.”
The Nybloms' ready-made sauna cabin serves both their free time and everyday life
As standard, Ehta supplies all its buildings as turnkey deliveries. The range of extras keeps growing. If you wish, your cabin or sauna can arrive with everything already included, right down to the kitchen, shower, bathroom and heated tiled floor:
“In our Sauna Cabin 30, there are sort of three separate rooms,”,
says Kaisa.
“A room with a fireplace and also a kitchen. The Sauna Cabin 30 can easily accommodate a kitchen; the spot by the door was just right. The living room area functions as a remote working space, a guest room, and generally for relaxing. And in the middle there is a shower and toilet.”
“The sauna is an unheated space: so there are two exterior doors here. The sauna is kept cold, and really that brings in the tradition of the old sauna. And it creates that thing where, when you come home here at the weekend and light the fire in the sauna, that's when the weekend begins”,
Åke continues.

A sauna cabin in your own garden is the perfect escape from everyday life
Åke and Kaisa lead busy lives, but the sauna cabin makes it easy to relax even in the middle of a hectic week:
“We work a lot and travel a lot and so on. But then at the weekend you can wind down in these surroundings. We don't have an actual holiday cottage, so this is our cottage”,
Åke explains:
“It's not a long trip, there's only one lawn to mow, one place to maintain, and you still get away from the everyday.”
“After the week you get to have a sauna: sauna on Friday, sauna on Saturday, sometimes even sauna on Sunday – and you still get to sleep in your own bed at night”,
Kaisa adds.
“During the summer holidays we had a sauna almost every day when we were at home.”
You have to experience the Ehta sauna steam for yourself
According to Åke, everyone should experience the perfect steam of the new Ehta sauna for themselves:
“Let's put the sauna on, then you can enjoy the best steam yourself!”,
he laughs.
“The best steam is breathable, not too harsh… Ehta sauna steam is gentle and traditional. People can sit in the sauna for many hours – perhaps even two hours.,
Kaisa describes, for her part.
Now Åke also finds words to describe the steam and the sauna experience:
“A sauna built the traditional way. Absolutely brilliant! Compared with our previous sauna, the steam in this sauna cabin is much gentler and it breathes. And what's good is that there's plenty of oxygen, so you can stay in there for a really long time. Usually we end up staying maybe even a bit too long.
”Now when you go into the indoor sauna, you don't [last] very long in there. We hardly use the indoor sauna any more. I don't think we've had a single sauna in the indoor sauna since this sauna arrived.
And as Ehta made these benches to our wishes – a bench platform, that is – we just have these wooden eco chairs in there and it's good to sit there, so what could be better when you're having a sauna.”
The first steam was a reward for Åke, chilled to the bone on installation day
On delivery day the crane had the sauna in place just after half past eight in the morning. Åke had chosen to do the on-site installation work himself.
As the sauna cabin also had drainage, electricity and running water, the installation work took the whole day. When he got stuck, Åke phoned production manager Ahti for help, and sure enough, the Nybloms were in the sauna by the evening:
“A few calls to Ahti in between, we got the chimneys in place and fitted properly – and on the same day, twelve hours after delivery, we were having a sauna.”
“It was a freezing cold day. I was frozen solid, having lain under the sauna doing the drains. My fingers were so frozen… it was absolutely wonderful to get into the sauna to warm up; and the steam was really good.”
3D modelling in the design of a ready-made cabin helps you picture how the solutions will look in reality
Åke and Kaisa found designing with Ehta easy. The 3D modelling was particularly praised:
“You had this brilliant 3D modelling, so you could see things pretty well. And we could place it in this landscape in advance… and then we made these changes, for example with the windows.
At first they were a bit smaller, but then we got a 3D sketch of it, so we made them bigger, and symmetrical too; so without this 3D modelling we wouldn't have got the exterior looking as pleasing as it does now.”
Planning the details of the bathroom took a little time, but the couple found this process smooth too, thanks to good and quick service:
“When the toilet and bathroom space was being designed, we sent emails, pictures and suggestions back and forth with the salesperson many times. There was always a new model: where to put the shower and where the water heater would fit, and in the end we found what suited our cabin.”
Good service doesn't end with the sale – complaints must also be handled properly
There's a lot to take into account when delivering large packages. Now and then there are mistakes or other damage that the customer has to get in touch about. The Nybloms appreciate the service they received after the sale:
“We had an unfortunate incident here, a small complaint. We went through it, and Ehta reacted really quickly. We agreed on a day, and then a representative from Ehta came out. They established what had happened, we agreed on it, and it was put right. It was good too that it didn't stop at the moment of sale – complaints were also handled through properly.
Ehta's range of ready-made saunas and cabins suits a wide variety of needs
The popularity of ready-made cabins and saunas is growing rapidly: but everyone's needs are different, and Ehta always aims to tailor the solution so that it meets the buyer's needs precisely:
“So you can recommend Ehta for a holiday cabin or a garden cabin, or a cabin for a bigger family – or a small family, because there were so many options. Ours is a bit bigger, but there were small ones too, so there's probably something to suit everyone's taste.”
“If I were looking for a sauna cabin… when you're thinking about which supplier to choose, start right at the beginning of the alphabet with the letter A and see which supplier comes up first – choose that one”,
Åke laughs.
“A B C D E: Ehta!”
Kaisa exclaims.

Think carefully about what the ready-made cabin will be used for before deciding
Åke and Kaisa share a few important tips for buying a sauna or cabin.
“It's worth thinking about the intended use as a whole, i.e. what you value – what you value in the sauna and this... This [Sauna Cabin 30] is absolutely brilliant for us: We can combine leisure activities with it... and yet when guests come, they can stay here in their own peace and quiet.
The range of extras for Ehta's ready-made cabins is wide, so you can get even a fully finished package completely ready:
“Here there are toilets, showers and of course the sauna, and then this guest-house option, so as a whole it works on a personal level, but also when guests come. So it's worth thinking about what really matters to you at that moment.
The Nybloms value a good sauna, panoramic windows and a well-finished whole
Åke and Kaisa wanted a multi-purpose building with a traditional sauna that also brings nature close:
“It's really important to us that the sauna works well and is good. But also that there are these big windows looking out; you can watch the nature and all the different animals going past at the same time.
It's really versatile… this is our cottage, this is our sauna, guest house and home office. Lots of different functions in the same building.”
The new ready-made sauna cabin is now a big and meaningful part of everyday life:
“I think we'll keep having a sauna every weekend, at least twice a week. It really is a big part of our everyday life.”
“For Finns, the sauna is important.”
