The 30-square-metre sauna cabin has recently been the number one favourite both for holiday-home owners and for people looking for a sauna cabin for their own garden. Ehta first brought a 30-square-metre sauna cabin to the Spring Fair back in 2025 – for the 2026 fair, a similar building was updated with the new Unelma equipment level.
Visitors admired the modern building, which nevertheless radiates the genuine warmth of a log cabin, and for which no building permit is required nowadays.
Amazement was caused above all by the fact that the building is ”surprisingly spacious”. Most people could not imagine that a sauna cabin of under 30 square metres could be so roomy and meet all the needs of a cabin holiday.

How do you create a 30-square-metre sauna cabin that feels bigger than it is?
A sauna cabin of under 30 square metres is a fairly modest size for a sauna cabin. A well-designed whole can nevertheless serve all the needs of a cabin holiday while retaining an open, spacious feel.
The Ehta Sauna Cabin 30 is built with inspiration from traditional log construction. with an elongated floor plan. This offers quite different possibilities for using the space than, say, a box-shaped flat in a block. That is why the building can surprise you in many ways.
In practice, in the 30-square-metre Sauna Cabin you can enjoy, for example, a spacious sauna room, a genuinely open lounge with kitchenette and a separate, fully equipped bathroom.
A solution of this kind was also on display at Ehta's fair stand (Spring Fair 2026).
This is how the right proportions transform a space
In recent decades, the ideal in Finland has been wide, box-like construction. When a building is wide, it is also spacious and allows efficient use of space.
But is that always true? And what does a cardboard box like that look like?
In smaller buildings in particular, width can – on the contrary – reduce the options for using the space. The wider a space is, the harder it is to divide it for different purposes without extra corners and partition walls making it feel cramped. Old log houses were often fairly long and, by today's standards, narrow. Houses used to be smaller, and the rooms were carefully planned to suit their purpose. At the same time, people wanted certain rooms to be clearly separate from one another, which a longer building makes possible. The Ehta saunamökki 30 is a log building that punches above its weight, precisely because its proportions have been designed with extreme care and extensive experience – drawing inspiration from traditional log building methods.

ensures that no room feels cramped and that you can move comfortably between the furniture. - Every metre of width is taken from the length.
That is why the width is optimised to be just right, so that the building can also be as long as possible. - An elongated building
makes it easy to divide the space naturally for different purposes with simple partition walls, so that you get the most out of the cabin's square metres and no unnecessary corners are created.
The floor plan shows the key elements of the fair sauna:
- A heat-storing fireplace in the left corner of the lounge, between the picture windows
- A small kitchen with an integrated fridge and sink on the right-hand wall. There is plenty of room left for, say, a sofa bed and a few other pieces of furniture.
- In the middle, a bathroom with WC, shower (right corner) and water heater (left corner).
- a spacious sauna room on the right with wide sauna benches and a Harvia Legend sauna heater. The large quantity of stones in the heater gives soft löyly.
- Ehta's own ready-made deck wraps around the sauna cabin from the front to the right-hand side.
Ehta Sauna Cabin 30, with its exhibition sauna and extra accessories, is like a small apartment. It contains everything you need for an extended stay.

30-square-metre sauna cabin with Unelma optional extras
Delighting visitors at the Helsinki Spring Fair, Ehta Lakeside Cabin 30 included plenty of optional extras, such as a kitchen and a proper bathroom. The sauna cabin was also built for year-round use, ensured by thicker 134mm laminated logs and insulation of the roof and floor structures.

There is no cooker here, because under the new Building Act ”a fixed cooker” determines whether a building is designed for residential use. In that case the building would require a building permit regardless of its size.
A freestanding hob is allowed, so it can be a good buy for a kitchen without a building permit!

Living room
In the Ehta fair cabin, the living room is designed to be multi-purpose. In the right-hand corner is the three-module kitchen with wall cabinets shown above. The sofa bed serves for both relaxing and overnight stays. The air-circulating fireplace heats the room quickly and adds atmosphere.
Lighting and all fixed furniture are already installed when the cabin arrives at your plot. The building is therefore fully ready for use.

For the Spring Fair, the interior and loose furniture were provided by Tapio Anttila Collection.
💡A particularly handy and popular piece of furniture for sauna cabins is Tapio Anttila's innovative sofa bed, whose sofa cushions contain both duvets and pillows for overnight guests. This reduces the need for separate storage space.
Price of a 30-square-metre sauna cabin
The price of a 30-square-metre sauna cabin typically depends on the level of equipment, the delivery method, the building material and its quality (and origin).
Ehta sauna log cabins are always made from Finnish, high-quality laminated timber. The delivery method is either cost-effective and easy turnkey delivery or a self-build material kit.
Ehta ready-to-ship means that the building is made in Finland, at Ehta's factory, fully ready for use and delivered to the customer installed on the foundations*. Windows, doors, roofing material, sauna heater and sauna benches, the necessary electrical installation and drainage, and other parts essential for use are always included.
*Building the foundations is not included in the price. Sauna delivery costs are not listed, as they depend directly on the location of the plot. You will always receive an exact delivery price together with your quote!
If you choose modifications to the turnkey delivery (e.g. larger windows) or optional extras (e.g. a fireplace, kitchen or bathroom with a heated tiled floor), these are also installed in the cabin ready for use. The price of every modification and optional extra is shown openly in the quote.

Delivery in practice
The building arrives straight to your garden on the back of a lorry and is lifted onto the foundations with the lorry's own crane. Installation usually takes less than two hours, after which you can start heating the sauna straight away!

Floor plans for the 30-square-metre Sauna Cabin for different needs
The building can be constructed with several different floor plans. Ehta, the customer always has free rein to influence the floor plan (within the terms of log construction). Familiarise yourself here with a few examples that deviate from standard designs, which may give you ideas for building your own cabin.
Sauna Cabin 30B
If you want to maximise the number of beds in the Sauna Cabin, or simply separate the sleeping area from the living room, a separate sleeping alcove can also be built into the 30-square-metre sauna cabin.
In this case washing is done in the sauna room. The entrance to the sauna can also be at the gable end of the sauna, which ensures that heat and water vapour do not spread to other rooms. The depth of the sauna room ensures there is enough space for washing.
Sauna Cabin 30C
U-shaped sauna benches are the best way to maximise the number of seats in the sauna. For washing, you can have a bathroom like the one in the fair sauna, or a simple and affordable washing area with a water cauldron.
You can also wash in the sauna, in which case the remaining space can be used, for example, as an entrance hall / changing room.
Sauna Cabin 30D
A separate WC and changing room is another way to make use of the length of the sauna cabin if a proper bathroom is not needed. Here the sauna is entered from outside to minimise steam and heat spreading. The door arrangements of the 30C model are also entirely possible.
At Ehta, floor plans and the overall design are always planned around the customer's needs and wishes. In principle, the positions of all doors, windows and partition walls can be changed – and of course the room layout can even be mirrored. The building can also be shortened slightly if, for example, the local interpretation of building regulations requires it.
