Are you dreaming of a ready-made sauna or log cabin package? A garden sauna or small cabin is easy to buy as a package – there are many different ready-made solutions on offer nowadays. Buyers should compare different packages, as their contents differ somewhat.
Why a log cabin package?
A ready-made sauna or cabin package makes your sauna or cabin dream easier and quicker to realise. Once a suitable plot is ready, often the first purchase for the plot is a small sauna building, which has a lounge for living in as well as a sauna room.
Once there is a sauna cabin on the plot to live and bathe in, you can continue and expand the building project with other buildings if you wish: a larger cabin, an aitta, etc.

Cabin package in parts or ready for löyly?
When you're buying a ready-made sauna or log cabin package, it's a good idea to make a choice early on:
- do you want to buy just the building materials and assemble the building yourself
- or would you like everything built and ready on a turnkey basis
If you don't put a price on your own work, a skilled builder usually gets off cheapest. The first option therefore requires more building skills and, above all, time. The second option requires a little more money, but you also get value for your money in the form of quality construction.
If you end up building a sauna yourself, it's worth bearing in mind that building a sauna isn't exactly easy. If you have no experience of building, you might well miss out on a few lovely summer evenings perfect for sauna bathing due to the building work.
Small log cabin package as a turnkey delivery costs on average around 15,000–20,000 euros. This includes absolutely everything from the sauna heater to the changing room and from the deck to the roofing materials. A sauna cabin at this price is around 10–20 square metres in size. A turnkey solution is easy and requires no effort or working time from the buyer.

A self-assembly log cabin package of about 15 square metres costs on average 10,000–15,000 euros. This type of log cabin package is delivered to the plot in parts, leaving the buyer to assemble the sauna. A cabin package usually includes: sauna benches, the intermediate ceiling, windows, doors, fittings, locks, the floor and gutters. Buying a sauna heater, for example, is the buyer's own responsibility. Exterior roofing material is not always included in the package either.

Modern or traditional log cabin?
Log cabins are available from different suppliers in a wide variety of models. However, models are mainly divided into two categories:
- modern log cabin
- traditional log cabin
Externally, they often differ in that a traditional log cabin has a more traditional gable roof, whereas a modern log cabin has a sloping mono-pitch roof. Modern log cabins also often favour features such as large picture windows.
Foundations and building permits are not included in the packages
A ready-made sauna or log cabin package does not include building permit fees or foundation work.
A garden sauna or sauna cabin under 30 square metres does not need a building permit. The change in the law came into force at the beginning of 2025. Larger buildings, or buildings intended for residential use, still require a building permit.
All construction must still take into account other regulations related to building legislation, such as:
- fire safety regulations
- minimum distances
- building rights
- municipality-specific zoning regulations
- local building ordinance

Foundations are an important part of buying a sauna or cabin. When a sauna cabin sits on the right kind of foundations, it lasts and does not, for example, sink. Foundations for a garden sauna or sauna cabin are often ordered ready-made, which is an easy and reliable choice. Anyone with a little building experience can also manage them on their own after some research. Bought ready-made, foundations cost around €1000–3000.
The location of the sauna and the soil on the site have a major effect on the choice of foundation method.
- Screw pile foundations are well suited to soft clay soil
- For bedrock and moraine soil, a traditional pier foundation is usually chosen, and
- On ground that is not susceptible to frost, a sauna can be founded very lightly

As already mentioned, a garden sauna or log cabin delivered on a turnkey basis includes everything you need, except:
- building permit
- foundations
However, buying a ready-made solution also makes things easier with the building permit and foundations, as you receive the building's drawings and dimensions, which make it easier for you to proceed. Cabin suppliers are also often happy to help with things like permits.
